Above you can see an example of the process of a marker illustration. I start with a simple, but set line drawing, after that the dark parts are filled in together with the details and the rims (the ellipse-shape of the rims is the hardest part), next the deep colour red, where there is a change in colour or reflection it will still remain white. Then the reflection and the lapses in colour in the bodywork are applied with red pastel crayon, subsequently the glimmers (or so-called highlights) are applied with a tinge of white paint and a very small paint brush. The shadow under the car will then give the whole even more depth and body. Finally, the entire illustration will be coated with a shiny layer of UV protection varnish which will give the contrast and definition an extra ‘boost’ as a finishing touch.
